What Are You Going to Do About It?
Or
(High Apple Pie in The Sky Hopes)
What are you going to do about it?
Good Question.
You must know who you are, and why you are here, before you can do anything about it.
So, if you haven’t read the posts, “Who Am I,” and “Why Am I Here,” please go back, and read those two posts before proceeding.
In this post we will answer three very important questions.
1. Why – Why are you going to move in a certain direction in order to complete your mission.
2. When – When are you going to move in that’s direction.
3. Where – Where are you going to take your first step in that direction.
In other words, we’ve thought about who we are and why we’re here. Now it’s time to put all though thoughts and plans into action.
Why? Because without action, all those thoughts and plans are for not.
Let’s be honest here.
There are hundreds if not thousands of books and tapes that tell us we can be great – for a multitude of reasons and to reach personal goals – but the step-by-step is often missing.
Why?
Because we are not particularly interested in the step- by-step process.
We want to read and hear about…the end result.
You know, that part when we drive up in that expensive car, walk into that enormous house, take off that designer suit, put on the luxury casual attire and impatiently wait for dinner to be served before going to the theatre. “That’s what I want!” we shout.
But, step-by-step…. forgetaboutit!
Problem is, without the step-by-step, goals are not reached, and worse yet, dreams do not come true.
Remember the song, “I didn’t promise you a rose garden?” That’s because life is a short journey of; ups and downs, smooth sailing and vicious storms. In the midst of great wonder and beauty can come, at a moment’s notice, the most horrendous terror.
While focus does not eliminate these champagnes in life, If we keep focus on who we are, why we are here and what we are doing about it – we can rise above these storms of life, regardless of how tumultuous, and leave a legacy that will last for generations.
And that’s what we want to do – leave a legacy that will last for generations – and in our lifetime, prosper as well.
Let me say that again…. and in our lifetime, prosper as well.
That’s sounds like a pretty heavy load.
Not really.
Why?
Because we are going to take it on, step-by-step.
Let me pause here – not stop – pause.
Some would say great dreams do not come true because of procrastination.
Putting things off till another later date. In so saying, they are, in many cases, accusing dreamers and visionaries falsely.
It’s not procrastination that stamps out dreams and blurs visions. It’s knowing why we are moving in a certain direction, when to begin and where to take our first step. It’s also almost never, “fear of failure.”
It’s simply taking the first step.
Beginning.
Getting started.
Turning the key.
Pulling the trigger.
So, let’s begin.
First step.
You will need to answer the question,
why am I choosing that direction?
It’s not a difficult question. It’s really pretty simple. You already know who you are and why you’re here. You already have a great idea what you want to do and where you want to do it. You already have a good idea what the first step will have to be. So, let’s priorities. Be very specific here.
1. Why am I choosing this direction?
2. Am I going to wind up being an Entrepreneur or Trained Professional?
3. Will I need to form a company (Entrepreneur)?
a. If so: what type?
b. Can I do it myself or will I need an attorney?
c. How long will it take to form and when will it be up and running?
4. Will I need any special equipment?
a. If so, what type?
b. Will I need it to begin, or later?
5. Will I need assistance?
a. if so, what type?
b. Can I go it alone for a while?
You get the idea. Be specific.
I recommend downloading one of the many online free business plan templates, complete it entirely and keep it updated as you journey. Promise, it will change as you go along...one step at a time.
Make sure these questions are answered thoroughly before moving on. Give yourself a date deadline.
Step Two
Answer the question; When am I going to move in that direction?
1. When it gets warmer?
2. When it stops raining?
3. When the kids graduate?
4. By the end of this week?
5. By the end of this month?
6. By the end of this quarter? – is this too far away? Should I shorten this start date?
7. By the endo of this year? – is this too far away? Should I shorten this start date?
When? If your answer is beyond the end of this week – think, plan, step again. Try within the next twenty-four hours. Maybe forty-eight.
Just do it!
Step Three
Where are you going to take the first step in that direction?
1. First: In your mind.
2. Second: In your heart.
3. Third: In the world around you.
Thinking, planning, preparing is over. It’s time to move.
Don’t let anyone stop you.
If you truly believe what you are about is your creative eternal calling.
1. Your Mission.
2. Your purpose for being.
3. Your destiny.
Then do it.
Don’t let anyone tell you, “it can’t be done.” That’s what they tell all the high achievers. Those who get done what everyone else says, “can’t be.” Do it anyway. Why? Because it’s your destiny and legacy…not theirs.
Don’t let your closest friend – which should be your spouse, or others in the family tell you it can’t be done. Do it anyway. Not to show them up…. but to show them you have a reason for being. A mission. A purpose. A calling.
Remember that Frank Sinatra song: High Hopes?
Just what makes that little old ant
Think he'll move that rubber tree plant
Anyone knows an ant, can't
Move a rubber tree plant
But he's got high hopes
He's got high hopes
He's got high apple pie
In the sky hopes
So any time you're gettin' low
'Stead of lettin' go, just remember that ant
Oops, there goes another rubber tree plant
Oops, there goes another rubber tree plant
Oops, there goes another rubber tree plant
When troubles call
And your back's to the wall
There a lot to be learned
That wall could fall
Once there was a silly old ram
Thought he'd punch a hole in a dam
No one could make that ram, scram
He kept buttin' that dam
'Cause he had high hopes
He had high hopes
He had high apple pie
In the sky hopes
So any time you're feelin' bad
'Stead of feelin' sad, just remember that ram
Oops, there goes a billion kilowatt dam
Oops, there goes a billion kilowatt dam
Oops, there goes a billion kilowatt dam
All problems just a toy balloon
They'll be bursted soon, they're just bound to go pop
Oops, there goes another problem kerplop
Oops, there goes another problem kerplop
Oops, there goes another problem kerplop, kerplop
